Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) has announced the debut of RADIUS, an intelligent and sophisticated family of loudspeakers for both portable and permanent installation applications. RADIUS brings EAW’s signature acoustical design prowess and technologies like EAW Focusing and DynO to a new powered and processed platform that integrates Dante networking and iOS-based prediction, control and monitoring along with a number of useful and unique features that streamline setup and maximize results in minimal time.

The EAW RADIUS Series is a comprehensive family that includes point source, line source, stage monitor and subwoofer loudspeakers. The complete range consists of 8-in and 12-in 2-way point source loudspeakers that are available in two horn patterns, a double 8-in articulated line array, single 12-in and 18-in subwoofer models – and a 12-in co-axial stage monitor.

At the heart of the entire RADIUS family lies the EAWmosaic iOS-based application. This completely integrated and intuitive platform provides for prediction, control and monitoring at any location in the venue wirelessly. With the power of EAW RADIUS and EAWmosaic, delivering spectacular audio results has never been easier or faster.

Beyond the all wood enclosures, EAW Roadcoat finish, minimalist aesthetic and Power Factor Corrected Class D amplification, all models in the RADIUS family incorporate a range of refined features that simplify and accelerate the path to optimized results. They feature a large, highly-legible navigation screen that provides on-box access to all RADIUS functions through the use of a simple turn and push encoder. Dual locking etherCON connectors provide simple daisy-chain Dante connectivity for single cable audio and communications. There is also an integrated WAP connection on every RADIUS loudspeaker to provide flexible router placement options. XLR audio input and thru connections provide an analog input option and automatic fail-over redundancy. And power is delivered via powerCON inlet and loop connections to simplify cable management.

The rear panel LCD screen and encoder on each enclosure also provide direct access to a wide variety of useful functions. In addition to basic functions such as crossover and delay, users can select from a number of pre-tuned voicings or even perform an Output Check to verify transducer and amplifier functionality without the need for external equipment. Many model specific functions are also directly accessible from the back panel alone. The entire RADIUS line additionally includes a complete range of accessories to maximize the utility of the family, simplify logistics and offer protection during transport and outdoor use.

The RSX18 offers push-button cardioid functionality in stacks of two or three via simple rear-panel controls – no complex calculations are needed to achieve great low-frequency control. Both subwoofer models offer significant sub-bass ground support and a high passed output for all full-range products in the family.

EAW är uppköpta av RCF

Eastern Acoustic Works was co-founded in 1978 by partners Kenneth Berger and Kenton Forsythe, who had previously worked together at Forsythe Audio.

EAW's first single enclosure system was the CS-3 designed for Carlo Sound in Nashville, Tennessee. It combined a B-215 dual 15-in low-frequency horn, a MR102 12-in mid-frequency horn and a Community BRH90 high frequency horn into one gigantic box, and was the first commercially available horn-loaded single enclosure box system.^[1]

In 1985 EAW became famous by developing the KF850 loudspeaker system.^[2] For many years this system was the standard among loudspeakers used for professional touring shows. With this system EAW gained much of its credibility in the professional audio industry. Carlo Sound and Sun Sound were among the first regional sound rental companies to receive the KF850's.^[3]

EAW also became well known for creating custom loudspeaker designs for specific projects and applications. Technologies developed for these designs have led to the development of many of EAW's standard products, which are mainly used in professional and commercial sound reinforcement applications, such as concert venues, music and dance clubs, theaters, stadiums, theme parks, and houses of worship.

In 2000 EAW was purchased by Mackie Designs, Inc.,^[4] now called LOUD Audio, LLC.

In 2018, EAW was purchased by RCF audio, to be run as a separate entity.^[5]
